Radiation protection devices
Designed for the storage of ionizing radiation sources and protection of personnel from gamma radiation exposure.
The RZU (Radiation Protection Unit) is used for storing gamma flaw detectors and containers with radioactive isotopes. The RZU consists of a housing with the necessary number of compartments for simultaneous storage of multiple radiation heads with sources of maximum activity up to 14,000 GBq (380 Ki) each. The equivalent dose rate on the outer surface of the RZU is not more than 5 µSv/h. The RZU is intended for use as both a mobile temporary storage facility and a stationary storage facility.
The internal walls of the RZU are made of stainless steel, while the external walls and doors are made of carbon steel. For biological protection, the walls can be filled with lead or hydrogen-containing material.
The safe doors are equipped with locking devices and loops for padlocks. Each door has a plate indicating the type of stored source, its number, and activity. For ease of operation, it is recommended to place the RZU on a specially equipped stand.
The layout, dimensions, weight of the RZU, the type of stored sources, and other parameters of radiation protection devices for storing gamma and neutron sources of ionizing radiation are calculated in accordance with the technical specifications of the customer.
